Following the Saudi assault against the revolutionary movement of the people of Yemen and attempted genocide and brutal killing of defenseless children, Iran’s Andisheh Cultural Center held the first International Cartoon & Caricature Contest on Yemen.
The contest brought together a diverse roster of cartoonists around the world "to show the heinous image of Saudi Arabia in their repeated atrocities against Yemeni nation."
The contest was held in two sections of Cartoon and Caricature.
The Cartoon section included subject matters on Silence of Media And International Associations; Genocide and Infanticide in Yemen; and Treason and Accomplicity of Arab League.
The Caricature section featured political figures including Malik Salman (King of Saudi Arabia), Khalifa Bin Zaed Ale Naghyan (Emirates Amir), Mansour Hadi (escaped president of Yemen), Hamd Ibn Isa Ale Khalifa (Bahrain King), Tamim Bin Hamdebne Khalifa Ale Thani (Qatar Amir), Benyamin Netanyahu, Francoise Oland and Barak Obama.
The Cartoon Section announced its winners as:
First prize Mahmoud Nazari (Iran), second prize Mohsen Jafari (Iran), third prize Samer Mohmmed Al-Shameri (Yemen).
Honorable mentions went to three Iranian cartoonists Pouya Abdoli, Bahram Arjomandnia, and Abbas Naseri.
The Caricature Section announced its winners as:
First prize Naser Moghaddam (Iran), second prize Hamidreza Hayat Roshanaei (Iran), and third prize Mehmet Ali Gunes (Turkey).
Honorable mentions were given to Mello (Brazil), and two Iranian artists Shahram Shirzadi and Mahmoud Azadnia.
The received artworks were judged by Alireza Zakeri, Davood Kazemi and Massoud Ziaei Zard Khashoei on Saturday June 13, 2015 in Andisheh Cultural Center.
623 caricatures and cartoons have been submitted by artists from 33 countries to Iran’s 2015 Yemen International Cartoon & Caricature Contest.
